Games of the Future 2026 Wraps in Astana with Champions Crowned Across Eight Disciplines
The 2026 Games of the Future, a global “phygital” sports event blending physical performance with digital gameplay, closed out its 12-day run in Astana, Kazakhstan on August 9. More than 800 athletes from over 50 countries competed across eight disciplines for a prize pool topping $4 million, with events held across four venues and viewership reaching into the hundreds of millions worldwide.
Champions were crowned in every category. 17 Gaming took the Battle Royale title and its $300,000 top prize, edging out GAM The Expendables. Wilders won Phygital Basketball, while PlayTime claimed its first-ever Games of the Future title in MOBA PC. In Phygital Football, NS Team defeated defending champions Quetzales-Armadillos, and Bigetron by Vitality topped the MOBA Mobile bracket after knocking off contenders including Team Falcons and Team Spirit.
Beyond the competition floor, the event drew government officials and sporting delegates from more than 60 countries, alongside representatives from the United Nations and various National Olympic Committees, reflecting the growing institutional interest in phygital sport as a category. According to Phygital International CEO Dan Merkley, the Astana edition demonstrated the format’s appeal to both athletes and global audiences, calling it another step forward for the movement.
